Simple Cycle

Smart trainer workouts for iPhone

Indoor training without the subscription

Simple Cycle turns your smart trainer into a precise interval coach. Build a workout from exact watts or your FTP power zones, press start, and the resistance changes on every interval while you focus on pedaling.

How it works

From blank workout to sweaty towel in three steps

No subscriptions, no virtual worlds, no leaderboards. Just the intervals you want, held to the watt.

Step 1

Build your workout

Add intervals as exact watts, or pick a power zone and Simple Cycle works out the watts from your FTP. Duplicate blocks, repeat an on/off pair in one tap, or import a workout you already have.

Exact WattsPower Zones
Z2Endurance60% FTP120 W · 10:00
Z4Lactate Threshold98% FTP196 W · 8:00
Z1Active Recovery55% FTP110 W · 4:00
Step 2

Connect your trainer

Give the pedals a turn and Simple Cycle finds your trainer over Bluetooth. It remembers it next time and reconnects on its own if the signal drops. Pair a heart rate strap the same way.

Tacx Neo 2T 40121
Zwift Hub 5521

Works with trainers that support Bluetooth FTMS, including Wahoo KICKR, Tacx and Garmin, Saris, Elite, Zwift Hub and most models from the last few years.

Step 3

Ride. The trainer sets the resistance.

In ERG mode the trainer holds your target no matter your gear or cadence. Feeling strong or cooked? Nudge the whole workout up or down 5% at a time.

Your heart rate strap and your workout library, welcome here

Heart rate from any Bluetooth strap

Pair a chest strap or armband once and Simple Cycle reconnects every ride. Your heart rate shows on the ride screen, is recorded every second, and goes to Strava and Apple Health with the rest of your data.

  • Polar H10 & Verity Sense
  • Wahoo TICKR
  • Garmin HRM-Pro
  • COROS

Works with monitors that use standard Bluetooth heart rate. If your trainer also reports heart rate, the strap takes over while it's connected.

Import the workouts you already have

Tap the import button, pick a file from Files or iCloud Drive, and review it before saving. Workouts written as a % of FTP stay that way, so they get harder as you get fitter.
